Tea Tree Oil.

Also known as melaleuca oil. It is one of the most versatile and powerful household and medicinal essential oils. It kills mold, viruses, fungi and bacteria, can also be used to clean grout, as a laundry booster, and as a disinfectant spray. Tea Tree Oil kills microbes by breaking down the cell membrane destroying that protective layer.

People with a history of plant allergies may have an allergic reaction to tea tree oil upon contact (should perform a small skin test before using the oil over larger areas). Symptoms range from red, inflamed skin patches to severe blistering.

Tea tree oil is not intended to be taken internally. Even oral uses of the oil are meant to be spit out after use. Accidental overdose from ingestion may have symptoms from dizziness, weakness, confusion, nausea, diarrhea, headache, muscle weakness and rashes to more severe cases- hallucinations, blood cell abnormalities and coma.
