Ylang ylang oil is distilled from the cananga tree grown in tropical Asia. The oils come from its yellow or green, star-shaped flowers. The flowers grow year round. The distillation process for ylang ylang oil is quite unique. There is a three phase process and three different essential oils are produced through each stage. You may see Ylang Extra, Ylang II and Ylang III oils. It represents which stage the oil was produced in. There is also a Ylang Complete oil which is either a blend of the three grades of ylang or the complete oil that results from the full, uninterrupted distillation of the flowers. In any case, the oil is very fragrant and very popular in the perfume and beauty industry.
