Peppermint

Mentha x piperita

It is a perennial herb that grows up to 1 meter (3 feet) high and has slightly hairy serrated leaves with pinkish-mauve flowers arranged in a long conical shape. Peppermint oil is extracted by steam distillation from the whole plant and has been cultivated since ancient times in Japan and China. It is however a lot more concentrated and powerful than other steam distilled essential oils. If the intensity of its aroma is too strong for you, try spearmint oil. It's similar aroma is less potent. We use peppermint oil in all of our cleanings. It leaves the homes with a stimulating, clean aroma that also keeps the pests away.
