Oregano is a hardy, bushy, perennial plant that grows up to 3 feet high. It has white or purple flowery stalks and dark green, hairy leaves. The plants originate in Europe and Asia. Today it is growth all over the world however the oil is produced mainly in Russia, Bulgaria and Italy. Its medicinal uses date back to ancient Greece where they used for treating bacterial infections. Oregano essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the dried flowering herb. Due to its many healing properties, oregano oil is the perfect remedy for cleaning a sick room. Add the oil to your natural cleaning product to wipe down surfaces, clean pails and use in a diffuser to clean the air.
