Lemon is an evergreen tree that grows up to about 20 feet; it has dark green, serrated, oval leaves with very fragrant pink or white flowers. The fresh aroma of lemon oil is achieved by cold-pressing the fresh peel of the fruit. Besides its fragrant and dietary uses, lemon oil is a great cleaner. It is used for cleansing the body, metal surfaces, just about anything. It is also a disinfectant which makes it a good cleaner for surfaces such as butcher’s knife and cutting boards that can get contaminated easily. We use lemons (just cut in half in the peel) to cut through hard water spots on bathroom and kitchen fixtures. It works great!
